Origin

lesscubes has been uttering the phrase "I should get a Corvair" roughly since he figured out that despite being a dyed in the wool Chevrolet man, he likes cars that can turn and stop. Many years of staring at Craigslist ads lead nowhere and the dream continued to be a meme. However, once ZeeKay joined the greater group, the phrase "I should buy a Corvair" took a potentially stupid turn.

Zeekay, well, Zeekay's brother, has a '64 Corvair Monza coupe. Thus were plans set in motion for the great Corvair escapade of 2018. Originally, plans called for cubes to buy the Corvair at an exceptionally reasonable price, then for he and Cone to fly to Zeekay's location to rehab the non-running car, pack it full of gear, and drive it the 2300 miles or so back to Seattle.

This obviously did not happen which is why the three of them are still at least nominally friends (and also not dead.) Cone would eventually work on that Corvair with Zeekay on stream only to discover the engine was somewhat seized.

The meme/dream continued on until 2020, when a certain '64 500 series coupe was spotted on Craigslist by lesscubes. And coincidentally, Kurt. Cubes would purchase the car (with great help from another RWP regular) from under Kurts nose and then quickly discover the joys of Corvair fan belts.

It's currently his daily driver as he both is an idiot and lives extremely close to his work which lets him get away with being an idiot. He maintains that he "saved" Kurt from the car and frankly, dude got his Z-Car in the end so it's all gravy, right?

Trivia

lesscubes now fears anything resembling a speedbump or a pothole, due to the somewhat extreme amount of coil spring cut the car has.

Silicone oil 1000% fixes the Corvair fan belt yeeting problem. It's not stupid if it works.
