Ownership History

Cone purchased this S13 240sx in 2009, to replace his project car that was destroyed in a car accident the year prior. The car was purchased after Cone put out a post in his local 240sx club forum that he was looking for a replacement chassis after the accident, and a member of the forum offered to let him pick any of the cars they had in a storage unit for $200. The car he ended up with was a rare Super Hicas SE model, that had been heavily modified in the past, been in a minor front end collision as well has had a significant hole cut in the firewall, presumably to fit a larger engine. The 4 wheel steering Hicas system had been removed prior to Cone's ownership, and the decision was made to use the car for extensive modification, as it was no longer feasible to restore the car to original condition.

The project started in late 2009, fitting the subframes and engine and drivetrain from his previous autocross car project, CD2. The car was built over the next few years to compete in the SCCA Autocross class "STX". This allowed for some basic modification to the car, including exhaust, intake, and suspension mods including a set of Stance GR+ Coilovers, as well as larger wheels and tires. Cone and his coworker friend Kyle painted the car in his driveway, a moment that would literally cement the car's legacy in the neighborhood, leaving a red ghosted outline of where the car once was. The car was used to compete in the STX class for multiple seasons, including winning multiple class events and earning a 2nd place overall championship run in 2012.

After the introduction of the Subaru BRZ/Scion FRS twins to the SCCA STX class, Cone decided to start changing the car over to Street Modified in 2015. This meant that the car would need a power increase to compete in such a class, coincidentally one of Cone's team mates on the Spec Miata race team he crewed for, as well as a long time fellow 240sx owner, put his Supercharged KA accessories up for sale. With some help from the Automation game developers, sponsoring the project, Cone purchased the supercharger, adapter plates, and standalone ECU system and began transforming the car into one of the only Supercharged KA 240sx's in existence. The supercharger brings the car up to nearly 250 wheel horsepower, and should be ideal for autocross competition with its seamless instant boost profile. The car has since undergone extensive testing and refinement in the last 5 years, but has only competed in 3 Street Modified events to this point, due to Cone focusing on moving from Florida to North Carolina, getting his Ramp Truck car hauler operational, and other such distractions from the project. Nearly the entirety of the build can be found on his Youtube Channels, the original S/C conversion taking place on ConeDodger Motorsports, and modern refinements coming on the main ConeDodger240 channel.

Future plans for the car as of 2020 is to continue development of the supercharged ka engine, as well as developing the chassis to better reflect the higher speed class it will now compete in. This will include a complete suspension upgrade, conversion to 5 lug wheels and brakes and wider wheels and tires.
